After
winning the BMX World Championship, Jason had no idea that bicycle motocross
would take him to new adventures in the entertainment industry. Jason
showed bicycle talent early and his parents allowed him to start competing
at the age of eight. After quickly moving through the ranks of racing
to the expert level, Jason went on to win numerous BMX titles and appeared
in many print ads and TV spots promoting the sport and BMX products.
As
the BMX World Champion, Jason was spotted by a talent agent for his
good looks and ability on the bike and was asked to audition for the
role of the paperboy in Pleasantville. One day later he was cast in
his first movie. "It was a surprise to all of us, but a good start",
said his parents, Lyle and Carol Maves, "The director told us that
he was cast because of his look and excellent bicycle skills, but he
never expected to get the BMX World Champion."
Jason's
start landed him a Disney
Channel guest appearance as the BMX World Champion, a modeling contract
with Click Models in New York, and the attraction of some of the top
Hollywood talent agents. His first agent, Barbara Cameron, was delighted
when he signed with her agency. After Barbara's retirement from the
business, Jason went on to sign with the Osbrink Talent Agency, who
currently handles Jason's career.
Besides
acting and modeling, Jason participates in many sports including snowboarding,
basketball, and surfing. In addition, Jason is a charter member of "Kids
With A Cause", a charity made up of celebrity kids and teens
who host activities and fundraising events to help benefit children
who are less fortunate. His favorite activity is the smiles he receives
when he visits the children at local area hospitals. "The kids
don't care who I am or what I've done, they just want to hang out and
I like to hang out with them", says Jason.
Jason
can be seen in many print ads, photographed by the renowned photographer,
Bruce Weber,
for such clients as Abercrombie
& Fitch, Versace
and Ralph Lauren.
He has also done campaigns for Bloomdales, Nike and Westfield Shopping
Malls. His TV credits include MTV's, "Date My Mom", Hallmark's,
"Jane Doe, 2" and "The Amanda Show". Jason's film
credits include the movie releases of "Pleasantville", starring
Reese Witherspoon and Toby McGuire, "Mod Squad", starring
Clair Danes and Omar Epps, "Stepmom", starring Susan Sarandon
and Julia Roberts, and the short film directed by Bruce Weber called,
"Chop Suey".
